•Canadian Armed Forces must be ready to deploy on short notice across Canada and internationally
•Relocatable Temporary Camps (RTCs) used to accommodate personnel in all climatic conditions for prolonged periods
•RTCs currently rely on multiple, independent systems for energy, water and waste management, none designed to maximize efficiency
•Supply of fuel and water to RTCs, and disposal of waste greatly increases transportation logistics of operations
This Contest aims to stimulate the innovation and development of solutions to significantly increase the efficiency of RTC utilities systems

•Contest to design and build an integrated energy, water and waste management system for RTCs
•4-Round competitive process over 2 years
–August 23rd 2019 to Summer 2021
•Funding provided at end of each Round
•Total funding available: Over $7.0M
•Best integrated solution can be awarded over $3.5M
•Contest open to legal entities duly incorporated and validly existing in Canada
Deadline for Round 1 entries: November 1st, 2019
Key Challenge Information
•Design and build an integrated energy, water and waste management system for Relocatable Temporary Camps (RTCs) accommodating 150 – 1500 people
•Systems designed to minimize RTC fuel and water input and waste output – at least a 33% reduction compared to current levels
•Systems designed to supply and manage given per capita requirements
•Systems must be transportable in standard 20-foot (6.1 m) intermodal containers
